PWT China tour 2017 concluded with stage 5
The fifth and final race of PWT China tour 2017 was run in the beautiful surroundings of Stavsjö Resort in Linqigu (Langfang region). Organized in accordance with the China Open races, there were again over a thousand runners enjoying orienteering. In the ladies class the winner of the day's sprint was Maija Sianoja (FIN), and among the men it was Frederic Tranchand (FRA) who beat the rest of the field.
The grounds of Stavsjö Resort offered a charming surrounding for the race, worthy to conclude this year's tour. Organized together with China open races, there was a magnificent atmosphere in the arena with a thousand orienteers, huge screen and massive TV production. The terrain itself was an outdoor park area, which was divided in to several completely different terrain types from open grass land and sandy forest to ”swedish” style cottage village and flower gardens. The courses were somewhat physical and the small errors where the decisive ones when handing out final positions.

After a week of racing, the winners in both classes were able to do strong runs both physically and technically.

In the women's class it was familiar faces in the podium as Maija Sianoja (FIN) took her fifth victory of the week ending up winning all the races. What a great run of performances there. The gap to the day’s runner-up Laura Robertson (NZL) was 17 seconds. Marika Teini (FIN) was third, just 7 seconds behind Robertson and 24 seconds behind the winner.

In the men's class it was a very tight race for the places in Top 3. Frederic Tranchand (FRA) outperformed all the others by 11 seconds, but then it was 6 men within 11 seconds. In the second battle, it was the singing Belgian Yannick Michiels who took the runner-up position beating Mårten Bostrom (FIN) with just 2 seconds. Felix Späth (GER) had a fantastic race also and was just 2 second behind Boström.
